Dropbox

Drop box is a file hosting system that allows users to create special folders on their machines which are then coordinated by Dropbox.inc, a company that operates the service, to make the files appear as if they are in one folder with the same content regardless of the computer they are viewed from.
Files stored using this system can be viewed from a website or a cell phone application. Drop box can be used on windows, Linux and Macintosh operating systems. On mobile phones the application can be used on iphones, blackberries, ipad and android.
To enable storage of folders, the service offers two gigabyte free space and offer 100 gigabytes for a fee. After one installs the application, a dropbox folder containing the users other data appears. Users are allowed to add, save, drag and drop files as if they were operating on a local computer. Users can access their drop box files from anywhere in the world as long as they have a computer that accesses the internet.
Users need to create an account which they will need to log in to view, upload or share their files. To share a file with other users, a user can share a URL from the drop box website and send it to others to view the information they need to share.
Users send invitations from the drop box website to share folders on drop box. If a user wants to share a folder with a user who doesn't have an account with drop box, the user has to sign up on the website to be able to access the shared folder.
A folder that is shared will appear in the folder system and everyone who has access to it will be able to view it and change the contents of the folders if necessary. The service allows users to share files securely.
