Note nonetheless that peanuts and pistachios contain less vitamin E, for example, than almonds, nuts and sunflower seeds. Breakfast cereals containing wheat bran, canned sardines with bones, and fish eggs are other good sources of vitamin E.
What about Vitamin E Supplements?
Most people can get enough vitamin E through the food they use to consume. Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin, which means that the human body can store vitamin E in the liver. Some people may have difficulty getting enough vitamin E, especially those who follow a diet very low in fat or suffer from medical conditions that make it difficult for them to absorb fat. Natural vitamin E is considered to be better than the synthetic version because it is better absorbed and remains longer in the tissues. It is therefore more efficient and, at the same dose, it is more powerful than synthetic vitamin E.
 As a rule of thumb, if you eat a variety of foods rich in antioxidants such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and moderate quantities of unsaturated fat from vegetable oils, nuts and seeds and fish, you should have an adequate daily intake of vitamin E.
 Do Vitamin E Supplements Prevent Cancer or Heart Disease?
 It is not recommended to take vitamin E supplements in order to prevent chronic diseases such as cancer or heart disease. As a matter of fact, research has shown that for some people suffering from cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, high doses of vitamin E can actually be damaging. Further studies should be conducted to determine how taking vitamin E supplements may alter the threat of chronic diseases. Always consult your doctor before starting to take supplements of vitamin E. You should remember, though, that the amount of vitamin E found in multivitamins is considered safe and suitable for healthy people of all ages.
